PM Focuses on Industrial Growth in Energy Review

ISLAMABAD, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for detailed policy recommendations from the Power Division as part of the government’s broader energy reforms agenda.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Monday, the Prime Minister emphasized that industrialists and investors must be fully supported, stressing that the development of the industrial and agriculture sectors remains a top priority for his administration.
He instructed the Power Division to focus on the efficient and productive use of electricity. “Effective use of power can significantly increase industrial and agricultural output,” the Prime Minister noted.
During the session, the Power Division briefed the Prime Minister on ongoing reforms related to power generation and its optimal utilization.
The Prime Minister directed that a clear and actionable strategy be developed to channel electricity usage into expanding productivity, especially in key economic sectors like manufacturing and farming.
The meeting was attended by several senior officials including Federal Ministers Awais Leghari, Ata Tarar, Ahad Cheema, Adviser to PM Haroon Akhtar, and other top representatives from the Power Division.

Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasized that ongoing reforms have the potential to steer Pakistan towards sustainable and export-led development.
Speaking during his visit to Washington for the World Bank and IMF annual meetings, Aurangzeb welcomed recent upgrades by global rating agencies, viewing them as a sign of the country’s improving economic stability. He identified reform and export growth as key priorities for the government.
